Just when you thought it couldn't get any sicker

Recruiting men and women to sign up to serve this country hasn't been going so well lately--imagine that! The traditional method for spurring volunteering for armed service has been bribery; the payment of cash bonuses to new recruits has a long tradition in the US (my own graduate work in history was/is on the subject, actually). Smirky's military, of course, is now trying to put a new spin on it. Apparently, and in a move totally devoid of both precedent and soul (again, what a shock!), the military has now embarked on a program of demanding repayment of these bonuses from anyone who does not serve out their entire commitment--including those unfortunate men and women wounded during their service to the country and unable to do so!
Remarkable.

How is there any sentient being with a working brain left who thinks "support the troops" means anything other than get'em home, thank them for their combat service (as unnecessary--AND detrimental--to Americans' safety as that service was), and if they still want that military career, set 'em to some kind of Americorps type service HERE!
What further bullsh*t will be shoveled our way?
Unbelievable.

I said when Katrina happened & many times since - bring the military home to help in our troubled areas. Nobody listens to anything I say & we could have used them in several places since then... Or, how about going to Indonesia or Chile where the quakes, tsunamis are occuring & help out there - let them do something good for a change!
GOM
