Condi Rice: Frost/Nixon with a twist

The fact that Condi Rice has a gig at Stanford is sickening, but at least some students there are paying attention. In what appears to be a relatively informal gathering, (see video here) she took a rather pointed question about the definition of waterboarding and her role in Smirky's Administration's approval of torture. Clearly, Condi is not destined to be a press secretary, because instead of dodging or redefining the question, or simply ignoring it, she dropped this bomb:
"The United States was told, we were told, nothing that violates our obligations under the Convention Against Torture, and so by definition, if it was authorized by the president, it did not violate our obligations under the Convention Against Torture." (emphasis added)
Now, I can't imagine anyone in Smirky's Administration did not see "Frost/Nixon", but if anyone did miss it, they had to have seen the ads for it, and if they managed to be so unaware as to miss those, too, they surely must be aware of the freaking Nuremburg Trials and their aftermath, right? Right!? Duhhhh.
Rice's "deft" admission to having committed war crimes is nothing less than the smoking gun needed to prosecute not just her (a gimmee, now), but also anyone remotely connected to this policy--"we were told", right?--especially Smirky and Dick, given that Rice specifically mentions presidential authorization.
"Paging Eric Holder, white courtesy telephone, please . . ."

Condi shows she's as petty as the rest of the gang

Condoleezza Rice sent a cable (forgive the secondhand link, but I refuse to link to the Washington Times if I can help it) to the relevant US embassies on the eve of Barack Obama's swing through the middle east detailing how "additional restrictions should be placed" on the services these sitting Congressmen receive from the staff, telling them for example, "[i]f the campaign staff wants to rent a bus for press, tell them where they can rent a bus". Rice attempted to sound less like a 3 year old by stating that, "It is imperative that, in implementing these various requirements, we treat both major presidential candidates evenhandedly" which sounds grandly fair. Fair, though, only in the sense FoxNews is fair, which is to say, not at all. You see, Rice did not send out the same notice when John McCain went on his mideast tour 4 months ago! These restrictions have apparently not hurt the Obama tour much, probably because the Democrats on the trip presumably are capable of renting a bus all on their own.
Nice job, Ms. Secretary! I'm sure Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Daniel Webster, and George Marshall are so pleased to have you among the long list of respectable Sec's of State we have had.

Condi, Condi, Condi

Perhaps she's just smarter than Alberto. Perhaps she's just more culpable than Alberto. Perhaps she's just more arrogant than Alberto. Whatever the reason, Condi Rice has declared that she's "not inclined" to appear before a Congressional committee to discuss what happened in Niger, lo these many months ago--or, more to the point, what the Administration told the American public happened in Niger. You see, Condi says she's already answered questions about that whole yellowcake business. She's lying, of course, because no one has ever answered questions about the selling of the Iraqi Occupation, least of all under oath. Oh, did I forget to mention Condi would be under oath this time? Yeah, she's been issued a subpoena. You know what a subpoena is, don't you? It's that piece of paper given to people forcing them to come to court and testify. Refusing to follow the instructions on the subpoena is against the law. But Condi is "not inclined" to honor this one.
What happened to "If you've got nothing to hide, you've got nothing to worry about"? Oh, that's right, she has plenty to hide--plenty of people to cover for and plenty of things to cover up. She's as complicit in the evil that Smirky does as anyone else in this sick mess; we can only hope that she continues to ignore the subpoena so we can get a beautiful picture taken of her being hauled off to prison for contempt of Congress. That would be sweet, if long overdue. Do it, Condi! You'd look swell in an orange jumpsuit in the middle of the Kansas summer heat. Filth.
